n Marieke Prinsloo-Rowe’s narrative the Little Swimmer represented a young South African Democracy who was embarking on its journey to seek and find its dream of freedom and equality and independence. Of a country who was learning how to together be ‘Walking the Road’ as her public art installation was titled.

There were seven different sculptures of the Little Swimmer Girl as she, sculpture by sculpture stood to tell her story between the city and the sea.
