Jongose - Young Warrior
bronze
limited edition of eight
144 x 44 x 40 cm

I have wanted to tell of one like him for so long… one in whom that which he has created is visualized as coming into being even as he is feeling it. In “Jongose” the clay ox symbolizes the compressed potency of the warrior he is to be. It has existed as part of him long before ever his fingers have touched the clay and can never be taken from him – even if it is forgotten under layers of growing up (and growing small).

He is the shimmering depth of all colour, showing all who see him who they are. He is, together with sister “Ukususela Kum - From Me”  a part of the homage I bring to the power of faith and the strength of story as held in the hands and hearts of our children.

The little hand made clay ox on his neck is part of him: his core, his identity and his strength - a dream that grows.
He not only creates his dreams but he fights for them too.

The only fight worth fighting and the one he will win.
